Great thinking about Records

Geoffrey Yeo – Concepts of records (1): Evidence, information, and persistent representations

Geoffrey Yeo’s piece from The American Archivist arguing for a representational view of records as a comprehensive and possibly unifying view of records. Prior to getting to his thesis it provides a really excellent overview of many different points of view on the nature of records, information and evidence and their link to the activities they either are, are evidence of, or are representative of evidence of – depending on which viewpoints you agree with. Well worth the time.
